Tai Chi and Ruler Tai Chi Classes in Eaton, CO for Improved Quality of Life

Having lived in Greeley for many years, I have loved building my community and family in West Greeley. I currently partner with the City of Greeley to offer classes at the Rec Center and Active Adult Center. This is my home, and I look forward to continue to offer classes in my home city.

What is Ruler Tai Chi?

Ruler Tai Chi™ is the evolution and extension of the tai chi ruler qigong form.  Although there are many qigong forms that use the tai chi ruler for ch’i(qi) cultivation, historic literature does not document fighting with the ruler, nor has it been passed down through a martial arts family.

Unable to find any trace of how the ruler might be used to take on an opponent, I created my own forms based upon the Yang family short form, as developed by Professor Cheng Man-Ch’ing (Zheng Manqing). The ruler fighting forms adhere to the principles of tai chi chuan and can take on an opponent wielding either traditional or modern weapons.

Bring new Life to your Tai Chi or Martial Arts Practice with Tai Chi Classes in Eaton, CO

I’ve been teaching Ruler Tai Chi™ classes in Greeley and Northern Colorado for 30 years, and participants experience a variety of benefits. Whether we’ve had the pleasure of sharing in a group class in Greeley or an online course, practitioners of Ruler Tai Chi™ find increased mobility and revitalized energy, and their minds and bodies are engaged in a new and exciting way.

Healthy

The movements of Ruler Tai Chi™ are designed to move vital energy (qi) through your body in the proper way according to the principles of Oriental medicine. At the end of your session you will feel relaxed and refreshed—not sore and tired. It’s the perfect exercise for the martial artist in Northern Colorado who is injured and recovering, or facing the challenges of an aging body.

Engaging

Many martial arts have a sense of grimness and determination to them. Ruler Tai Chi is a pleasure to learn. The movements are slow and relaxed––you must stay loose and flexible to perform them. And yes, you can use the ruler for combat. But unlike some traditional weapons, the device itself, a short wooden dowel, is pleasing to hold and easy to wield. Ruler Tai Chi™ classes in Greeley or online engage the participant’s mind and body in a unique way.

Refreshing

If you are already a long-time student or practitioner of another martial art form, you may now find it stale and lifeless.  A daily round of Ruler Tai Chi™ will shake up your practice routine, and may even breathe new life into your current martial art study. Practice Ruler Tai Chi™ from the comfort of your own home with online courses that fit into any lifestyle, or join an in-person class or workshop in Northern Colorado.

What are students saying about Ruler Tai Chi™?

See what our customers have to say about their Ruler Tai Chi™ practice.

"I initially saw Tai Chi simply as a way to build an added form of exercise into my daily routine. However, Sifu Fred presented a learning experience that far surpassed my initial perception of what I thought would be primarily rote memorization. By interweaving the fascinating history and beauty of the Tai Chi ruler form, Sifu Fred brought the class to life. It made learning easier and certainly fun! And it has become an added benefit to my daily routine."

"Sifu Fred’s professionalism and years of teaching become increasingly apparent with each encounter. He approaches every lesson with zest, humor, and a dedication to student progress. For those of us who might struggle in acquiring new skills, Fred is patient and caring. Student success and enjoyment are his ultimate goals. He motivates us to invest the time and energy necessary for continued progress which then has us looking forward to our next lessons."

"I have known Sifu Fred for a good 25 years, 15 of those years as his student. His background of personal Tai Chi study coupled with his knowledge of Chinese medicine makes him a very thorough, skilled teacher, offering his students a true wealth of knowledge."

Student
Tom M.

"Thirteen years ago I signed up for a Tai Chi class taught by Sifu Fred Jennes. I completed the beginner’s class, took 2 more of the same and then took every one offered after that time. The classes had a lot of different things to offer as Sifu had extensive knowledge of Chinese medicine, being practiced in acupuncture, herbal remedies, to exercises in Qi Gong, sword form and his own ruler form. With Sifu’s ongoing guidance and company of others of the same interests, I have joined the quest to age more pleasantly and practice the knowledge I have accumulated."

Student
Anne M.

"I have been training with Sifu Fred for over a decade. Some of the things I have learned along with the Tai Chi form is physical and mental balance and strength. When I practice the forms I enjoy the focus and movement needed to do them correctly."
